Importing a car from Australia to the UK. A 2008 Golf GTI, Sydney to Hitchin, because I couldn't bring myself to sell it. The DVLA rejected the first application. I learned that putting the £55 registration fee and £410 road tax on one cheque confuses a government ledger, that a "date of manufacture" letter is not a specification, and that the Australian government will confirm your car isn't stolen for a small fee. Building Finn's Fizz with my son. A fizzy drink is the excuse. The real product is a boy who believes he can make things. Twenty-minute sessions, something tangible every time, he leads, I fetch. Five flavours scored by three brothers; lemon, lime and mint won. The first trial was going to be kiwi and mango until the mango failed quality control and we had an emergency pivot. If it stops being fun, it fails.

A client engagement I can't describe. No name, no sector, no problem statement. What I can say: the business is choosing between profit now and growth later, the people on each side are both right, and the job is to sit in the middle of that and be useful. This is the only kind of work I find interesting.
